**Stabilize the fabric with basting stitches or several clamps on the sides, use a cotton or bamboo flat batting. How well it is stabilized is how well it will quilt out.

After placemat is quilted sew a 13 x 18 inch  rectangle around it twice then bind or use    fabric paints on it….. Or give it to kids to color or paint.
